It's easy to wake up in a bad mood.

Maybe you had a rough day yesterday. Maybe you're in a tight spot financially. Maybe your boss is a jerk. The reasons are endless, and most mornings, at least one of them is sitting right there waiting for you.

But let me offer you a deal. I'll give you $1 million dollars to make you happy. Would you take it?

I'm going to guess that was a quick "hell yes."

Here's the catch. You get the $1 million, but you don't get to wake up tomorrow. Still taking it?

Now I'm guessing that was a quick "hell no."

You just told me, without even thinking about it, that waking up tomorrow is worth more than $1 million dollars. Not a little more. So much more that the money wasn't even a real question once life was on the table.

Nothing about your circumstances changes the moment your eyes open. The bills are still due. The report is still due. The door that was closed yesterday probably isn't magically open today.

But you're alive. And you still get the shot to be optimistic. To be happy and to attack the day instead of just surviving it. Nobody hands that to you, and nobody can take it away either.

That's not circumstance. That's a choice. So what are you doing with your $1 million dollar morning?

Your day is decided by how optimistic you wake up, not the circumstances you inherit.
