Be Relentlessly Competitive

Compete in Life

We recently got a new dog named Penny (I added a picture of her at the bottom). She’s small, but mighty. Her new older brother, Charlie, is bigger and stronger.

In our house, we don’t have an alpha and a beta — we have two small alpha dogs. One just happens to be older and stronger. Did he earn that? Not really. It’s just age.

But Penny doesn’t care about his size. She doesn’t back down. She has one advantage, and one advantage only. She is relentlessly competitive.

It doesn’t matter how many times Charlie knocks her down or tackles her. She gets up. Again and again. Like a fly that won’t go away.

And eventually, not because Charlie isn’t stronger or faster, he quits. He’s sick of her relentlessness. He taps out.

That’s the way to compete in life — because life requires competition. Other people want the job. Other guys want the girl. Other companies want the revenue. Other authors want the best-seller list.

Your only shot isn’t to be bigger, faster, stronger, or more talented. Your shot is to keep showing up. To compete every moment you can with the relentlessness of Penny.

Because the real goal isn’t to win once. It’s to outlast, outwork, and out-compete until winning becomes the natural result.

You don’t have to be the biggest or fastest, just the one who is relentlessly competitive.
