Change the Tone Today
Be the reason someone believes in goodness again.
It’s easy to believe the world has gone bad. Watch the news or scroll long enough, and you’ll start to think everyone is selfish or out for themselves.
But that belief starts to fade the moment you encounter genuine goodness from just one person.
A man walked into a small chicken restaurant, and from the moment he stepped inside, the place felt off. The tables were dirty, the worker behind the counter barely made eye contact, and the whole place carried a cloud of mediocrity.
Still, the man was hungry, so he stayed. He ordered a plate of chicken fingers, paid, and sat down. Fifteen minutes later, the server dropped the food on his table without a word.
When the man realized he hadn’t received any barbecue sauce, he asked for some. The server replied, “That’ll be 75 cents.”
He could have rolled his eyes, argued, or left frustrated. Instead, he did something unexpected. He walked to the register, paid the 75 cents, and left the employee a ten-dollar tip.
In an instant, the server’s entire demeanor changed. His voice and posture lifted, and he said, “You have no idea how much that meant. My boss has been yelling at me, customers keep complaining, and I thought no one cared. You just reminded me that people are good.”
One small act of generosity broke the cycle of negativity that day.
It’s easy to match other people’s energy and mirror average with average. But the best leaders, teammates, and people do something different. They reset the tone.
Being good when life is easy doesn’t require much. But resetting the tone when it’s undeserved, inconvenient, or uncomfortable, that’s where real leadership lives.
So today, decide to be a tone setter for good. Be the one who changes the atmosphere. Because one person who makes a small act of goodness can change the day.
Be a tone setter for good.
