Choose Who You Listen To
Everyone has an opinion.
But just because someone has an opinion doesn’t mean you should listen to it. Especially when it comes from someone who doesn't have what you want in life.
Alex Hormozi put it perfectly:
“If they don’t have what you want, don’t listen to what they say. There is no greater waste of time than justifying your actions to people who have a life you don’t want.”
This is hard. Not because you don’t know who to ignore, but because so many voices are flying into your phone screen every day. Some pretend to know. Some really do know.
And then there are people close to you: friends, parents, even colleagues, who want to protect you from pain or failure. Their intentions are good, but their advice isn’t always helpful.
So what do you do?
You listen respectfully. Nod your head. Say thank you. Then quietly discard advice that doesn’t align with your mission.
You don’t owe anyone an explanation for the life you’re building.
Keep seeking the voices of those who have been where you want to go or support your vision. Stay focused on becoming the kind of person whose opinion is worth listening to.
You don’t have to justify what you say no to. Just keep working in alignment with the goals you have in life.
If they don’t have what you want, don’t listen to what they say. There is no greater waste of time than justifying your actions to people who have a life you don’t want.
