If you live long enough and you do meaningful things often enough, you're going to experience failure. You're going to come up short, and it's going to hurt.

But in difficult times, you have a choice. You can either be buried, or you can be planted. Only you get to decide.

Years ago, I heard a mentor say something in a very difficult moment. "If you're going through hell, don't stop and put down roots."

I've never forgotten it. In a hard moment, it often feels like it won't end. And the truth is, it won't, if you stop. But if you keep going, if you don't give up, if you keep moving in the direction you know you're supposed to, you won't be buried. You'll be planted. And you'll come out of that dark time as a stronger version of yourself.

If you're in a difficult moment or season right now, remember: don't put down roots. Just keep going.
