Earn the Right

Good has a price

It’s time for March Madness.

In last year’s NCAA tournament, the Houston Cougars’ journey concluded in the Sweet Sixteen, where they were narrowly defeated by Duke 54-51. In the game, a few key players missed free throws down the stretch, which provided a teaching opportunity.

Head coach Kelvin Sampson put grad assistants in charge of getting six returning players to make 150 free throws a day. He did this to teach his players; “You have to earn the right to be good."

Sampson understands that you aren’t good at something because you want to be. You get good at something because you earn it.

Today is your opportunity to earn the right to be good. Put in the work and gain confidence from the repetition.

You have to earn the right to be good
