Everything is a Suggestion

Elon Musk was trying to transport rockets from Houston to Florida. His team told him the only way to do it was to send them on a barge, which would take a few months to arrive. This wasn’t good enough.

In an effort to get his team to think differently, he said, “Don’t tell me what is impossible; explore what is possible. Physics are the only laws, everything else is a suggestion.”

A few of his team members took his message to heart and mapped out a route for driving the rockets. Except they kept running into overpasses. Instead of stopping there, they explored a route involving no overpasses. However, they ran into the problem of electrical wires. Instead of stopping there, one of the team members suggested they send trucks and men ahead of the rockets with long poles to manually push up the wires so the trucks could fit under them.

Boom…Rockets from Texas to Florida in just a few weeks instead of months.

The takeaway is to quit taking the first no for an answer. There are always different ways to solve problems as long as physics or your mind isn’t in the way.
