Proximity is wildly underrated.

Working from home is more convenient. Sitting in the back row at church or in class is an easier exit. But just because something is comfortable doesn't mean it's serving you well.

There is a simple two-word solution: get closer.

Proximity, by definition, is closeness. A simple way to think about it: imagine going to the NBA Finals. You could watch it at home on TV, you could splurge on tickets and sit in the rafters, or you could go all out and sit as close to the action as possible. All three options tell you who wins. But sitting courtside creates a wildly different experience.

Today isn't about basketball. The proximity I'm talking about is relational.

Being close to people is how real relationships get built. It's how someone's true character gets revealed. You've heard it before: "You become the five people you spend the most time with." Or, "Show me your friends, I'll show you your future."

Those aren't just motivational lines. They're a description of how proximity actually works.

So it's worth asking: are you putting yourself in close proximity to people who can lift you up? How often are you near people who can create potential opportunities in your life?

Proximity is rarely convenient, but it provides potential opportunities that would never exist without it. So be intentional, and get closer.

Proximity is rarely convenient. But it can literally change your life.
