Most people hate the beginning.
The reason is simple. The beginning is ugly, uncomfortable, and the results are unrecognizable. That’s why so many people start with energy and then quietly stop.
Yesterday was New Year’s Day. It was the beginning of your New Year’s resolution. And if you started something new, that matters.
But today matters more. Here is why;
“The last stroke of the hammer breaks the stone. This does not mean the first stroke was useless. Success is the result of continuous effort.”
You probably didn’t love yesterday. You didn’t see meaningful progress. You likely don’t feel different today. Everything begins on day one. But day one doesn’t break the rock. It rarely does. And it might not break for a long time.
But you must continue hitting the rock. Stack days of hitting the rock, and eventually it will break.
It’s my hope that this year becomes one of the best years of your life. That you accomplish meaningful goals and become the kind of person who meets their potential instead of wondering about it.
But none of that happens if you stop swinging. The rock has no chance of breaking if you stop hitting it.
So don’t quit. Just keep hitting the rock.
The rock only breaks for those who keep swinging.
