Make Your Minutes Count
Take Advantage of the Opportunity
Tyrone Garland started his college basketball career at Virginia Tech but grew frustrated with his lack of playing time. So he transferred to La Salle University, thinking things would be different.
However, he found himself in a similar situation in his new school, coming off the bench and playing limited minutes in games. However, this time, he worked while waiting. He put in extra time in the gym and met with coaches to find out what he needed to work on to get more time.
His moment finally arrived during the 2013 NCAA tournament. Despite playing sparingly in the game, he came off the bench late in the game and hit a game-winning shot known as the “Southwest Philly Floater” against Ole Miss, propelling his team into the Sweet 16.
Garland figured out, “Don’t count your minutes; make your minutes count.”
Instead of wishing for all the opportunities in the world, focus on taking advantage of the opportunities you get today. Tomorrow isn’t guaranteed, so make the minutes you have today count.
Don’t count your minutes, make your minutes count.
