Negative Things Happen

Shifting your mindset is a skill. It’s learned through a lot of repetition and training.

The people who acquire this skill have a leg up in life. It’s as if they are starting a race with a big head start on everyone who hasn’t developed the skill.

Author James Clear said it well: “Negative things happen. Negative mindsets make them harder.” Here are four examples of shifting your mindset from negative to positive:

  • I haven’t figured it out yet

  • I’m not losing, I’m learning.

  • I was not rejected, I was redirected

  • I am not buried, I was just planted

It’s easy to say these things when undesirable events haven’t happened. It’s infinitely more challenging to say them when going through them.

Which is precisely why shifting your mindset is a skill. A skill is the ability to choose and perform the right technique at the right time with the minimum amount of effort.

The only thing left for you to do today is to turn what could be considered a negative situation into a positive one.

Negative things happen. Negative mindsets make them harder.
