There are three periods of time. Past, present, and future.
Knowing that isn't important. Living in the bookends is the problem.
Too many people live in the past, or worry about the future, instead of focusing on the present. The late great Lou Holtz used to say, "If what you did yesterday seems big, you haven't done anything today."
Now this isn't to say what you did yesterday didn't matter. More than likely, it planted good seeds that will bloom today. The opportunity is to turn your attention away from yesterday and focus on today. By asking one powerful question.
What have you done today?
That workout you did yesterday was great. Are you doing it better today?
The way you treated your spouse yesterday was great. Can you do it again today?
The way you focused in class yesterday was great. Can you do it again today?
The way you prepared for your meeting yesterday was great. Can you do it again today?
Now isn't the time to rely on yesterday's actions. It's about taking them up a level today. Because if you get in the habit of focusing on today's actions, you will surely, positively impact tomorrow.
What have you actually done today?
If what you did yesterday seems big, you haven't done anything today.
