Thinking about yourself too much is a trap. The more time you spend in your own head, the more you suffer.
Tony Robbins says it better than I can: "All suffering comes from the focus on oneself. That's why when you are growing and contributing, you don't suffer. You are not in your own head. You are in your heart or your soul. The mind will always find something to suffer over, if you give it enough time."
And then he dropped the good stuff.
"Gratitude destroys suffering."
That's it. That's the whole thing.
Your brain is designed to keep you safe. Give it enough idle time, and it will find something to worry about, something to regret, something to fear. That's not a character flaw, that's just how it works. But you don't have to let it run the show.
Find something to be grateful for. Right now, in whatever situation you are in. It doesn't have to be big. It can even be a stretch. But if I pushed you, you could find one thing. You always can.
The only question is whether you'll put it into practice today.
Gratitude destroys suffering
