The Invoice for Greatness

Why the price is higher than most are willing to pay

Greatnest isn't free. It has a cost. Oftentimes, it comes with a pricetag that most people say they're willing to pay, but when they see the actual cost, they back down.

Inky Johnson had this great line: “Everybody wants to be great until they see the invoice.”

Now, the reality is that everyone starts at a different starting line. There are genetics and experiences that move where you begin. However, no matter where you start, greatness isn't achieved without an immense amount of work.

You can’t skip it or borrow it to get there. You earn greatness when no one is looking, clapping, or liking. Being great isn’t momentary; it’s about consistency. It’s being able to do something at an elite level daily by committing to the habits that most people avoid.

Being great at anything comes at a cost, and it always falls into one of four categories:

  • Time

  • Sacrifice

  • Discipline

  • Failure

Now, most people like their current comfort too much to be great. They like the idea of greatness, but not the work to achieve it. They want the recognition, not the responsibility.

I don’t know if you care or even have the desire to be great. However, remember that no matter your starting line, you can pay the invoice in front of you today. Don’t think about all the invoices, just the one in front of you today.

Everyone wants to be great until they see the invoice.
