A few months ago, I went to the house of a customer whom I now consider a friend. When I walked into his house, his wife wanted me to see something in her art room.

Right next to one of her paintings sat a quote that she read in one of my newsletters. It said, “The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.”

I didn’t remember exactly who I learned it from, but I loved that it was her reminder to work on the painting that she was avoiding.

Candidly, I think we all need that reminder. We are all avoiding something, whether its concious or not.

Today is the day to hit play. It’s time to pursue the goal you are avoiding. Don’t worry about how well you do or how it goes; attack it with one intentional action.

A better marriage is on the other side of a difficult conversation. A best seller is on the other side of writing that book. Your best health is on the other side of that workout. Impact on others is on the other side of coaching that team.

Attack what you are avoiding.

Your brain will try to keep you safe. But you’re responsible for helping it be brave.

The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.
