In most games, there is a winner and a loser.

Take March Madness. One team wins and moves on, while the other team boards the plane home.

Life doesn’t always work that cleanly, but it’s still filled with wins and losses. Moments where things go your way, and moments where they don’t. And over time, something becomes clear.

There are people who seem to win consistently, and people who seem to fall short more often than not, almost regardless of what they are doing. Now I say all this because there is one major difference between someone who wins and someone who doesn’t.

It’s not just talent. It’s not just opportunity. It’s the story they are telling themselves. Said differently, people who win have a winning story running in their mind on a constant loop.

That doesn’t mean they always win. It doesn’t mean they never come up short or get beaten. But over time, their internal story stays the same.

They see themselves as the kind of person who hits the big shot, closes the deal, or finds a way to get it done. And that story shapes how they show up. Their mindset becomes the differentiator, not just their skillset. Which is critical because the story in your head becomes the results in your life.

So the question to ask yourself today isn’t, “Am I going to win or lose?” The better question is, “What story is running in my head on a constant loop?”

Because eventually, you start to act in alignment with whatever story you believe most.

The story in your head becomes the results in your life.
