An NFL football game is 60 minutes long.
But did you know the 4th quarter typically has the most points scored? And the last two minutes of each half are among the most efficient, highest-scoring periods in the entire game. Which is traditionally called the “2-minute drill.”
Same players, coaches, field, but something changes.
The tempo speeds up. The clock management sharpens. The risk tolerance goes up. Coaches call plays they wouldn't call in the first quarter. Players execute with a precision they weren't playing with an hour ago. That's the 2-minute drill. And it works, not because the talent changed, but because the urgency did.
Urgency is a mindset. And mindset changes behavior.
So here's what I need from you today. From the moment you get after whatever you are getting after, I need focus. I need risk-taking. I need a level of urgency that is more uncommon than yesterday.
The kind of locked in where distractions don't stand a chance. Where you stop waiting for the right moment and start making the moment right.
I have a sneaky suspicion you have another gear. I believe you have a 2-minute drill in you today. Does every day need to look like this? No. But today does.
The clock is running. What are you waiting for?
Urgency is a mindset. And mindset changes behavior.
