You're Thinking It
They Feel It
You think you can hide it. If you hold it in or act like everything is ok, no one will know.
But it doesn’t matter how good you get at compartmentalizing your thoughts or feelings; other people feel them. Said differently, if you're thinking it, they are feeling it.
If you are stressed, they feel it.
If you are worried, they know it.
If you are self-conscious, they experience it.
If you are frustrated, they see it.
Yes, it's possible that your coworkers or loved ones might be too consumed with their own lives to immediately recognize your inner turmoil. But if they have emotional intelligence, they're aware, even if they don’t always say it.
A mentor once said something to me that I will never forget: “Everybody is going through something, whether you know it or not.”
I don’t know what you are going through, but I do know you’re not alone. Instead of waiting for someone to figure out what you are thinking, talk to them.
Chances are, they already sense it, and they're just waiting for you to speak up.
If you are thinking it, they are feeling it.
