You Should Reach Out to Them

Your network is your networth.

It’s possible the business you are in fades away. It’s possible that the house you live in burns down. It’s possible that the car you drive stops working.

Many of the things you care about are temporary. This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take care of them or invest in them. However, the people in your life make up a network that sustains you.

I learned this great lesson from one of my mentors: “Reach out to people just because they crossed your mind.”

You never know what someone is going through, and the simple act of sending a text or making a call can be all they need.

Just last week, I got a call from an old college teammate and good friend when he heard our dog had died. It was a nice gesture from a friend that I don’t talk to much. That 10-minute conversation led to a business introduction from a contact in his new business that could very well help him in a meaningful way.

My friend didn’t call to get something; he called to reach out to me because I crossed his mind. It’s what people do who know their networth is their network.

My challenge to you today is to send someone a text or make a call when they cross your mind, for no other reason than to say hello. What happens next might amaze you.

If you need help, copy and paste the text below:

“For some reason, you came to my mind this morning. Hope you have a great day.”

Reach out to people just because they crossed your mind.
