Quick note before we jump in. The Optimistic Outlook book is now available on Amazon. The pictures and social media posts this weekend meant a lot. If you or someone close to you enjoys short inspirational stories, it makes a perfect Christmas gift.
Your Body Language is a Billboard
Your body language is a billboard showing how mentally tough you are.
Most people have no idea this is happening. They think their reactions stay hidden. They think their face tells a quiet story. But it does not. Body language screams.
You do not like the meal. It is written on your face.
You disagree with your boss or teacher. They know.
You hit a bad golf shot. Your playing partners can see your frustration before you even speak.
Here is the uncomfortable truth. Your body leaks your emotions before your mouth ever gets a chance.
There is a helpful way to picture this. Reading someone’s body language is like reading the label on a soda can. From the outside, it’s clear and impossible to miss.
But the person inside the can cannot see the label at all. They are too close. They are living in it, not observing it.
That is what makes body language so tricky. Everyone else sees your reaction long before you realize you are projecting it.
So here is the challenge for you today. The next time something does not go your way, smile and say, “Good.”
Not sarcastic, fake, or forced. Just a simple smile and a simple word.
It is almost impossible to have bad body language while smiling and saying “Good.”
You show mental toughness without saying a single extra sentence.
Try it today and remember, your body language is your billboard. Make sure you like what it says.
Your body language leaks your emotions before your mouth ever gets a chance.
