Your Life Changes Based on Courage
Courage changes things.
Courage is being scared and deciding to do it anyway. It’s feeling inadequate, then looking yourself in the proverbial mirror and going for it regardless of your feelings.
Unfortunately, most people believe that courage is only meant for the select few, that you either have it or you don’t. But that couldn’t be more wrong because courage is a choice.
There is an excellent line from Anais Nin: “Life shrinks or expands according to one’s courage.”
Think about that.
You don’t know how much your life will change based on your courage, but it’s the only way it does.
The job you want? Courage.
The deal you want? Courage.
The book you want? Courage.
Years ago, I had Father Mike Schmitz (Bible in a Year) as a guest on the John Eades podcast. At the time, we had young kids, and I will never forget what he told me about parenting. “Your job isn’t to keep your kids safe, it’s to make them courageous.”
That line changed my parenting style forever.
And here is the truth: Courage is learned and built. Your life only changes when you choose it.
So today, choose courage. Do one thing you’ve been avoiding and watch how your life expands.
Life shrinks or expands according to one’s courage
