Your Voice Matters
A Reminder for Father's Day
This Sunday is Father’s Day. Because I have a dad and am a dad, I know one thing for sure, dads are essential. Their voice matters, whether they realize it or not.
I recently started reading The Intentional Father by Jon Tyson. It inspired me to write a tribute letter to my dad. A letter to honor him, to express gratitude, and, if needed, to offer forgiveness for specific moments in our relationship. Earlier this week, he received it in the mail. The next morning, he sent a heartfelt response. It was a meaningful exchange, and a great use of time and energy.
If you're interested in writing a tribute letter to your dad, I’ve created a free summary document to help you.
Whether you choose to write a tribute letter or not, today is a day to remind yourself that your voice matters more than you think it does. It carries weight. It echoes in people’s minds. It stays with them long after the conversation is over.
Your voice makes a deeper impact when it’s calm, confident, and wise.
One of my mentors once told me, “Nobody learns anything from you when you’re telling.”
That doesn’t mean you can’t be passionate. But when you control your tone, when you speak with intention, like the best dads in the world, your voice doesn’t just land. It lingers. It sinks in.
So whether you're a dad or not, your voice matters. And if you are a dad, it carries more weight than you can even imagine.
Nobody learns anything from you when you’re yelling.
